Unvanquished

German language has a word called 'Brotberuf' which literally means 'bread-job' but is loosely translated as 'day job'. It is said that it was Kafka's dislike for his Brotberuf which made him such a splendid short story writer. While I have no illusions about my non-existent Kafkaesque abilities, this blog is all that my Brotberuf is not. The views and opinions expressed in this blog are solely mine and do not reflect that of the organization(s) I work/have worked for.

About Me

Rajarshi
An introvert who prefers solitude over crowd. An inherent pessimist. An avid reader. An apostate engineer - take your pick. I am your typical Urban Indian Middle Class Male whose life has followed more, rather than less, predictable trajectory. Engineering, MBA (Nah! not the elite ones. Not even close.) and other such etcetras. But then a part of me aspires (and sometimes works) for something higher, nobler, more meaningful, holds certain 'unfashionable' things dear to his heart, strives hard not to end up being another brick in the wall, is fascinated by greatness and excellence, is humbled by mankind's achievements. I have a passing interest in a range of seemingly unrelated things like history of South Asia & British Raj, covergence of science & religion, military history (particularly WW II), ethos of the Indian Armed Forces, Satyajit Ray's films, geo-politics, wildlife & adventure travel writing, civil rights movements in India etc. In short, a bit of this and a bit of that. Finally, there are some books, people and incidences which have influenced me considerably and have made me what I am today.
